K2 WAYBACK 98 Men's Touring Skis

K2 Wayback 98 is the most versatile model in the Wayback collection, designed for ski tourers looking for a single pair of skis for varied conditions. The 98 mm underfoot width provides an excellent balance between low weight and uphill efficiency, as well as stability and flotation on the descent. The ski is narrow enough for long spring tours while still being wide enough to handle soft and variable snow with confidence.

The construction is based on the ultralight Paulownia Tour Light core, designed specifically for ski touring skis. Using lightweight paulownia wood helps reduce weight while maintaining the required durability, elasticity and control on the descent. At a length of 179 cm, the Wayback 98 weighs just 1390 g per ski, making it ideal for long ascents and full-day tours.

The Titanal Touring Technology provides the appropriate downhill performance. Strategically positioned, lightweight Titanal laminates increase stability, vibration damping and edge grip without adding unnecessary weight. The construction was developed to maintain high efficiency on the ascent while providing confident and predictable handling on the descent.

The All-Terrain Rocker profile combines progressive rocker in the front of the ski with traditional camber underfoot. The rocker facilitates turn initiation and improves the ski's performance in soft and variable snow, while the camber provides stability and effective edge grip on harder surfaces. As a result, the Wayback 98 performs well across the wide range of conditions encountered during ski touring.

The skis are also equipped with a Snophobic™ Topsheet, a top layer that limits snow buildup on the ski surface. This helps reduce additional weight during ascents, especially in wet or sticky snow.

The construction is completed by Biobased Resin – a resin containing 31% biobased carbon. It provides a durable bond between the individual construction elements and appropriate resistance at low temperatures, while using some materials of plant origin.

K2 Wayback 98 skis are sold in the Flat version, without bindings. The bindings should be selected appropriately for the user, and their installation, adjustment and inspection must be carried out by an authorised service centre before use.
