For some of us, every ride at the resort is like listening to a
jazz band playing a live concert – it’s spontaneous, you make decisions on
the fly about where to go, carve, and how quickly to move into the next
turn. The easiest way to describe it is: you simply find your rhythm. The
Instrument features a directional camber and uses our Volume Shift™
construction so that, with the right width, you can lay into turns on hard
snow. A longer radius at the nose makes turn initiation easier, while deeper
sidecut underfoot helps with carving. The Instrument has a 3/4-inch setback and
a 10-millimeter taper to help it float in deep terrain, along with a hard and
fast Sintered 4000 base. Inside is our sustainably sourced S1 Core, which is
equally durable and flexible underfoot. Carbon Torque Forks™ extend from the
inserts to the contact points, providing responsive power transfer, while the
entire package is wrapped in our ICG™ 10 Biax fiberglass – with carbon
stringers running from tip to tail for increased pop and additional stability
when things heat up. The Instrument is designed for those days when you’re
not quite sure what the forecast will bring.
Sizes: 151, 154, 157, 160, 164
Technologies:
- S1 Core – A smoothly flexing version of
the A1 Core, our S1 Core was designed to be strong underfoot. Built from
bamboo, aspen and paulownia, the S1 Core allows each wood type to do what it
does best. Bamboo stringers running from tip to tail add spring, durability and
damping underfoot, balanced by lightweight paulownia in the center section, tip
and tail to help reduce weight. Underfoot, aspen and bamboo are positioned at a
30° angle to increase strength, speed up edge-to-edge response and increase
pressure distribution along the edges.
- ICG™ 10 Biax Carbon Glass – Integrating
carbon stringers running the length of the board with our fiberglass increases
the snowboard’s lifespan without adding unnecessary stiffness.
- Carbon Torque Forks™ – Carbon stringers
extend at a 45º angle from the inserts toward the tip and tail, adding
responsiveness and stability at all speeds.
- Hybritech™ – exclusive to K2 products.
By transitioning from a P-Tex sidewall to a construction with a protective cap
at the tip and tail of our snowboards, we can reduce waste while providing our
snowboards with better energy transfer and making them more durable than those
of our competitors.
- Sintered 4000 Base – Hard, fast and durable,
our sintered base material holds wax better than extruded materials, increasing
speed and glide.
- Volume Shift™ – We reduce weight and toe/heel
drag by shifting surface area from the tip and tail to the waist of the
snowboard. Downsize 4 to 10 cm from your usual snowboard length.
