BBB PowerHead Headset Top Cap with Expander (BAP-03)

The BBB PowerHead BAP-03 is a robust expander designed for installation in a fork steerer tube. Its purpose is to enable the correct preload of the headset bearings, eliminating play between the fork, frame, stem and headset top cap. It is a small component, but it plays an important role in precise bicycle handling and riding safety.

Unlike a traditional headset star nut, the expander is not driven into the walls of the steerer tube. Instead, it expands inside the fork, distributing the forces evenly over a larger surface area. This makes it suitable for both aluminium and carbon forks, in which a traditional star nut should not be used. The manufacturer highlights that the expander’s clamping mechanism distributes loads evenly and allows for safe and easy installation.

The BAP-03 model is 40 mm long, providing a better grip inside the steerer tube. The larger contact area helps to seat the expander securely and improves the stiffness of the entire cockpit connection. In practice, this translates into more confident bicycle handling, especially when braking, riding off-road or placing greater loads on the handlebars.

PowerHead fits the popular1 1/8-inch fork standard. It is suitable for road bikes, gravel bikes, MTB, trekking and city bikes, provided that the fork and headset are compatible with this size.
